August 2nd, 2012 07:07 PM #1Mga experts, is it normal kung nagbubuga ng itim na smoke ang turbo diesel car? Our's is a ford everest 2012. It happens usually at 2nd gear reaching about 2-2.5 rpm. Hatak mode po yun.. It's our first turbo charged car kasi.. Pasenya na po im newbie sa ganitong engine. Nasanay kasi ako sa biglang apak ng acceleration pedal sa civic fd ko pero i don't notice any black smoke(baka dahil unleaded). Hehe

Sometimes even new diesels will smoke if you rev them hard, suddenly. Depends really on the engine.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

August 2nd, 2012 08:06 PM #3not an expert but will answer your question. hatak? but not pedal to the medal, yes? then its not normal. usual cause of smoky exhaust for CRDI engine, i assume crdi engine nyo, is bad fuel or dirty diesel.
gas engine doesnt smoke black unless theres really something wrong with the engine.
diesel engine on the other hand is different, it will have black smoke on upak mode. but not very much like a bus. and as you said your just driving at 2000 to 2500 rpm then it should not exhibit much smoke. as that range is the usual driving range for a diesel engine.
try to drain the present diesel from the tank. fill up with better and newer gas station near you. preferably the big 3. wag muna full tank. try to drive a few kilometers till the old diesel from the pipes are replaced with the new one. gradually the black smoke should be gone.
hope this helps

new ford everest yan sabi mo, common rail na yan, pero hindi pa vgt ang turbo nyan. so may turbo lag. reason for the black smoke.
kahit naman siguro rolls royce na makina ng eroplano pag sobra ang fuel (biglang apak sa accelerator pedal) uusok. walang problema ang engine ng everest mo. yung driver ang problema.

it's VGT for both 2.5 and 3.0 everests. The Fortuner too is VGT equipped.

In general, diesels produce dirtier emissions than gasoline. You can only minimize the smoke by using premium diesels from reliable stations. I have a similar observation with my Monty; but the smoke comes out during sudden acceleration.

August 2nd, 2012 10:55 PM #10Thanks sa input mga sir.. Sometimes kasi i press really hard on the gas pedal or more like sudden acceleration then shift at 2-2.5k rpm.. Pero sandali lang naman ung smoke.. Just what ive said, nasanay ako sa dating sedan ko..
About the VGT equipped. AFAIK sa FCP vgt na daw ang everest since second gen . Di ko lang alam sa fortuner..
Anyway, vgt or not.. The ford everest's engine still a monster for me. Hehe
