im being offered an early promotion after just 2 months..gagawin akong supervisor ng mga clinic assistants sa isang research company here in toronto.

but I really want to start this september sa school. I applied sa different colleges in their nursing program. the problem is...sobrang late nako nag apply at halos lahat ng inapplyan ko eh puno na...I am just waiting for the reply of one more college....sana makapasok.

on the other hand...ang ganda ng opportunity na binigay sakin ng company...sobrang tempting as of NOW. iniisip ko rin ang future ko and being a nurse will surely make my future secure lalo na dito...

I have my own plans...but i just want to hear from you wise people of what you think.

    thanks.

Depende. If you need the cash now, go for the job, otherwise school.

Kita ng pera ang job. Gastos ang school, or rather....investment for more lucative job later.

This is a fact I gleaned from trends in the business/financial industry (which may or may not apply to your respective industry). I think its best to keep on working now until the inevitable "restructuring" occurs during down turns. Newspapers have reported an increase in MBA enrollment during recession years of 2001-2003 in the US.

right now, there is a very big demand on nurses here in canada and the us. thats why i think, hindi naman ako mauubusan ng trabaho. pero nauubusan ako ng schools dahil sobrang late ko na nag apply.

and honestly...i am having this life crisis na gusto ko nang maabot agad ang pangarap ko sa medical field. i started in medschool in the philippines..but never had the chance to finish it becasue we migrated here.

sobrang naguguluhan lang talaga ako sa ngayon...

    fafa glenn,

i think what you need to look at are these:

    1. does the job offer more advancements in the future? or will it ultimately turn out to be a dead end job, short of your life goals?

    2. do those future advancements require further education/degree or just experience? if it requires more education will you be able to attend further college later, keeping the job at the same time?

    3. if, as you say, it sets your career path in another direction, does it present opportunities where you will be able to achieve what you innitially set out for? are your life goals still within sight if you take this path?

    4. last but not least, will you be happy with it? especially if let's say you get stuck later on?

nice to hear from you ninong yebo.
    1. it will turn out to be a dead end job. supervisorial job kasi siya. handling 7-8 people in clinic logistics and it also requires storage jobs.

    2.no.

3.IMMIDIATE life goals, yes. long term, no. since i am just starting here, napakagandang opportunity para sakin. pero pagtagal...pag plano ko na magkapamilya, i dont think it will be enough.

4.right NOW, i am happy. getting stuck to it later on....i dont know just yet.

why are you giving up on your chosen career as a MD anyway? you give that up now and 40 years later you will be thinking what could have been if you kept to your chosen path. kala ko sabi mo nun e uuwi ka din ng pinas to finish your studies? you make the choice, do not let life make it for you.

ninong...mas inisip ko mas magiging ok kung dito ako mag nurse kesa mag md sa pinas. mas pinili ko maging practical ngayon since parents ko parin magpapaaral sakin. eh nandito rin sila. pangarap ko rin naman ang nurse..pero hindi sa pinas.you know what i mean...

diba pwede i part time mo na lang yung work and part time school, ganun ginagawa ng sister ko eh, nabibili pa rin niya mga gusto niya while not sacrificing her time for her studies. Yan din ang isa mo pang kalaban eh, yung "time".
