August 30th, 2007 05:02 PM #2i am into feeds...clients ko mga livestock farms (pigs and poultry):
imo, bangus and tilapia have similar exposure to broiler chickens pero the risk is higher and the selling price is a bit low.
Ang investment sa "semi-intensive" prawn farm would be similar to the investment sa prawn breeder.
crabs...hmm interesting...King crabs would be good and better than plain mud crabs. pero hindi malalim ang background ko dito pero it is quite a lucrative and pays-for-itself business daw (the in-laws of a friend in Ilo-ilo is into this king crab biz).

August 30th, 2007 05:19 PM #3oo nga bro medyo malaki risk sa bangus at tilapia at maliit kita. Farm is located in hagonoy/calumpit area. yun farm eh sa parent ni wifey kaso napabayaan na. Nanghihinayang ako kasi hindi napapakinabangan since walang nag-aasikaso. 15 hectares din yun and the only income comes only from those who lease some of the area. may part kasi na palayan dati. meron din palaisdaan, and nag-try din sila ng prawns. mukhang ok yun prawns kung hindi mababaha.
nag-try sila ng prawns dati and kumita sila ng 1.5m sa isang harvest and to think na 100 k lang puhunan nun. right now kasi mukhang i-tuturn over na lahat sa min ni wifey kaya pinag-aaralan ko na.
by the way grow out yun. yun crabs eh mukhang lucrative nga since may kakilala kami na mukhang naka-jackpot dun! (saka sarap nung crab nila! daming taba saka malaki hehehe!)
by the way saan ba pwede kumuha ng training about agri biz? medyo malayo kasi field ng IT dito eh! hehehehe

August 31st, 2007 09:07 AM #6thanks for the inputs guys! Yun ating alamin ni gerry geronimo eh hindi ko alam kung existing pa yun show pero i watch that show when i was a kid and it is very informative.
yun mango farm ang tingin ko maganda since ito ang suitable sa soils ng bulacan. by the way meron din coconut tree, kasoy saka sinigwelas sa farm. balak ko i-organize lahat kasi may mga portions na as in nakatunganga lang yun lupa. by the way di ba may sukat yun in between trees? saka as much as possible avoid ko sana mag-spray, im not really a fan of chemicals
i've checked the site nung PCARRD at mukhang very informative. i'll check out their forums
