I am into UITF's and have been watching the trend lately..its been going south like crazy. Does anybody have any insights why it is dropping very fast lately (Dec 07 to Jan 08)?

UITFs, mutual funds are invested to stocks, bonds, and other debt instruments
Everything is going south coz a very big financial storm is brewing.
Subprime is just the tip of the iceberg.

January 22nd, 2008 02:00 PM #3planning to get into MFs soon...definitely not equity or balanced funds though. the "R" word is being whispered too loudly these days. with stocks maganda sana if you predict the bottom, then tsaka ka bumili ng MF(anybody got a crystal ball? B). If you can't...bond fund na lang.
for me bond funds seem the safest right now....but imho if the big "R" really hits, everything follows it down...
btw, a friend showed me this site: http://wwwpinoymoneytalk.com

So how wud i know if its okay to go into MF? Yung mga mixed portfolio ba will be investing into other things rather than stocks and bonds. Sorry for the newbie question

grabe buong Asia massacre today
Foreign funds are dumping asian stocks and buying dollars and retreating
bagsak asian currencies
Subprime is just the beginning
Confidence has been lost in the international banking community
Nobody trusts each other
Nobody wants to lend money to anyone
Everyone has toxic waste in their portfolio
The banks are all checking their assets for contamination
They are erasing billions in capital
---------------------------
American consumers are having a hard time paying their bills
They cant pay their amortizations, they cant pay their credit cards
Soon, companies cant pay the money they borrowed by issuing bonds
The banks are so screwed
The world is screwed
The sky is falling!
