I've driven vehicles with these type of rear-facing camera which replaced the traditional rear view mirror.... and I'm stumped. How is it better than the standard mirror?
Maybe it's the fact that the camera is mounted too low and doing so, all you see at night are the headlamps of the vehicles behind. Considering, the rear view "display" is at or near your eye level so you're basically staring at it all night.
I just want to be clear, I'm not talking about the backup/reverse camera, which only turns on when you put it in reverse. This is strictly those rear view displays that are always-on.
Maybe if the camera was mounted high, like at the top edge of the rear windshield, it would be well above most headlights' beam cut-off. Still, just use a dedicated dash cam and leave the rear view mirror alone.
