In the context of this thread, the front camera is NOT the same as a dashcam. They serve two different purpose.
The front camera aids in parking or in situations to make sure that there aren't any pets or kids playing hide and seek in front of your vehicle before pulling out. You typically switch it on, on-demand. There's very little reason to keep it turned on while driving, other than to take a peek if you suspect anything from an obstacle to a pothole that is not in your field of view. Anyway, if your vehicle has a hood, the area immediately in front of the bumper is a blind spot.
