March 2nd, 2009 07:37 AM #1Hello. Im a newbie here. I already went thru the threads to get some info on how I can have a Philippine map in my Nuvi 260W, but honestly I could hardly understand some terms. Im not a techy person really- I just want the easiest way I could get the software. Would anybody know if there's a shop out there where I could just buy an SD card already preloaded with the Philippine map?
Thanks!

where did you buy your NUVI? ... if you bought it locally (in the Philippines) it might already have the Philippine maps included.
If not, check the manufacturer's website if they are selling maps either via for download or on sd cards.

April 6th, 2009 08:03 PM #8This is the only site that can provide you with Philippine map for your Nuvi for free http://roadguide.ph/ . There is a forum where you can ask and learn how you can install the map. Hth.

That's right. And there are two versions of the map; the free version and the updated version (currently v1.05).
From the description itself, the free version isn't as updated and as complete as the updated one. To get it, all you have to do is register as a member of the forum and it will be available to you for download.
To get the updated version, you will need to be a member of the forum AND be able to contribute to the map. Contributions includes corrections, new POI's, etc. Once you've sent "enough" contributions, you'll be promoted to Contributor status and an unlock key will be sent to you so the updated map can be installed on your Garmin.

And contrary to what one might think, the map there can't be purchased. If somebody tries to sell you one, then you are being conned. The Philippines gps map there is a result of contributions by the members and is solely provided for contributors there for free. No person or entity should profit from it.
