    HID's can only be utilized if you use projectors.. kapag nasa reflector na housing ang HID much of the light scatters in all direction, yung usable light para sa driver is reduced thats why pag gabi at may mga ilaw sa poste na dilaw o umuulan eh talong talo ang hid na nasa reflector housing... the incoming vehicle is blinded and the vehicle using the HID gets no additional light...

    The best color to choose would be 4300k to 5000k.. thats the rating with which most lumes is availlable... theres a reason why OEM bulbs are rated at 4300k.. the primary purpose of upgrading automotive lighting is increase visibility to the driver and safety not to blind other motorist and make your car look cool..

    HID's are best used with reflectors. It's a bit pricey to have it retrofitted but it's well worth it. I had mine retrofitted by garyq with FXR bixenon projectors with 4300 kelvin bulbs, OEM wiring, ballasts and sealants. Maximum light output where you need it, on the road and not on the windshield of the on-coming vehicles. Talo ko pa yung mga naka Camry, Benz's and Bimmers. And, because of the projectors, your HL's will appear bluish/purplish to the on-coming vehicles. It's really cool.

    Hi, I need your opinion on this one 'cause I'm new to this kind of stuff. I got my new ASX GLS last July '11, yet my halogen lights
    specifically the lowbeams were not that bright. Although I have super light 3M tint (I don't know if it's original 'cause it's free from
    mitsubishi), still the lowbeam were not good specially on long drives. When I get back from work on Oct '11, I'm planning to replace
    my lights with HID, may I know if ASX GLS lowbeam has a projector type? Is it good to buy Phillips HID kit or xenon will be ok? Or is
    it ok to replace just my halogen bulbs with Phillips XP or Osram NB? Are all of these bulbs have H11 type? Thanks in advance for all
    your opinions, much highly appreciated if you can help me find the best options.

    To be able to help you fully pilotnord, we need to determine and establish things first;

    Is the vehicle driven mainly on the highway or in the city or mixed?

    How much money are you willing to spend in achieving maximum correct light output?

    If ever you intend to use HID, it is obligatory to use projector type housing or else it will be money and light wasted, you will be seeing less yet blinding motorist more

    If ever you decide to use projector you will be choosing between PnP kit and Complete retrofit. Pnp kit is a complete package, it includes the projector lens,bulbs,ballast and wiring and is reversible, meaning you can go back to stock lighting when you decide to go back halogen. the complete retrofit means you will not be able to go back halogen, the lens housing will be drilled and a projector of OEM type will be placed.. PnP kits are more cheaper and reasonable, retrofit are a lot more expensive but light output will be worth it.

    if you drive in the city most of the time, no amount of hid will be able to compete with the low pressure sodium yellow bulb of the street lights...

    on the highway, where vehicle speed is fast, longer throw out or forward beam distance is crucial, you want to see obstacle at a far distance. projector hid will be a good option.

    OEM projector installed on local units are not that good... there is a lot of room for improvement

    you can do the upgrade in stages depending on your budget as mentioned. I think the ASX is equipped with halogen projectors. First replace the stock bulbs with Philips XP or Osram NB. Most probably you will get a 15-20% increase in light intensity. Second is a plug and play HID syst. The halogen bulbs will be replaced with hid bulbs with ballasts, wiring, etc. Intensity will increase in the middle vs. stock output but the width will remain the same. Caveat on this, some HL dont react very well to pnp hid bulbs. Some form heat marks on the PC lens. The best upgrade is a retrofit. Since you are equipped with halogen projectors, it is still possible to go back to stock although no one will go back to stock once they've experienced using a proper hid projector retrofit. A retrofit entails changing the halogen projectors with hid projectors and installing an HID system. This is the most expensive upgrade but solve lahat problems mo. You can see my write up here regarding upgrading auto lighting setup:

    Let us know how you will proceed with this.
