March 8th, 2017 10:10 PM #1Hi, can i get your opinion... I have a 6 yr car, only 25k mileage. The reason for this is we very seldom use the car, most of the time, pamalit lang when the other car has coding, and since we seldom go out, usually to/from school/grocery/mall area lang kami pumupunta which is just 10-15 mins away from the house.
I am due for renewal of comprehensive insurance... Medyo nagaalinlangan lang ako if i should still get comprehensive for this car given that we seldom use it. 400k na lang car value assessment ng insurance and they quoting me 15k for the insurance. I'm thinking not so worth it....

You pay for piece of mind.
We have a 10 year old car, until now naka comprehensive pa din.
Wala sa lapit o layo ng byahe yan, minsan nga nasa garahe yung oto nadidisgrasya pa eh hehe

You should for your peace of mind. I have a 7 yr old Altis that I insured this year for P10,500 (inhouse Toyota Pasig).
I only use this car for coding. Last year, I parked it in front of my house which I RARELY do since I don't like my car exposed in the sun. 2 days later I noticed a huge dent in the bumper! It's a good thing the car was insured. Paid participation 2000 + 500 depreciation + 300 notary. I didn't suffer too much hassle, I just submitted the docs to the casa and waited a few days before I brought it in for repair.Last edited by _Cathy_; March 8th, 2017 at 10:59 PM.

March 9th, 2017 12:10 AM #6If you can afford it then go. If medyo tight budget, things to consider.
1. "High risk" ba lagi si oto. Meaning wala ka parking sa bahay or sa workplace na matino. You are always on the road driving?
2. May newbie driver ba na gumagamit or hataw mode ka ba lagi mag drive?
3. How many years ka na nagdradrive and given those figures, how many times ka na na accident na major?
Dont consider simple fender bender ah, a simple scratch or dent is easy to fix naman say 2.5-5k max. No where near sa 12-15k +4k sa participation and all fees na ibayad mo sa compre.
Another example is nabasagan ka windshield along SLEX, Edsa or NLEX. It's around 6-7k to fix, installed na within 1-2 hours. No hassle or waiting for inspaection, for LOA, or matenga sa shop ang oto.

March 9th, 2017 12:18 AM #7Everybody should get an insurance. No offense sa mga walang insurance. Pero nakailang incident na kami and know some people na walang insurance kabilang party, pineperahan kami kahit kasalanan naman nila. Nakakabwisit lang. Pero pag yung may insurance nakabanggaan, madali kausap, lalo na pag konti lang naman, sige na, deadma na both parties. Insurance should be mandatory.
Ang gawin mo, babaan mo na lang value ng car mo. Pa-insure mo 250k or 300k. Para covered pa mga bangga. Mababa nga lang makuha mo if ever manakaw sasakyan mo but you said bihira naman gamitin. Another is don't get acts of nature kung ok naman lugar nyo
