2 to 3 hours engine idling?

Tsaka, correct me if im wrong, since hindi umiinit at idling ka nga lang parati ng sobra tagal, yung egr ng diesel diba kelangan above idle (mataas rpm) para masunug yung soot at hindi mapunta sa exhaust system din tlga?

I think yun yung issue mo sa 'pusit' but baka mali ako. Intay na lang comment ng iba.

we reach our office via expressway from SLEX to NLEX, sa tingin ko naman sa 100kph sa NLEX na tangal na lahat ng dapat ma tangal na abo sa tambutso, field sales kame, need talaga mag idle pa minsan minsan, ngayon lang naman nag luwag sa malls, pag may malapit na mall dun muna ako waiting, minsan swerte kase malamig yung kainan na pag hihintayan ko, minsan malas at mainit kase nag titipid ang establishment, pero nung panahon na wala dine in, no choice kundi mag idle habang nag hihintay at kumain sa loob ng sasakyan...

if that were true, then why is your tambutso's insides, as seen at the visible end, black?

ang natatanggal lang, ay the loosened soots.
but there is always soot bujild-up when the engine is running.
it's the nature of the beast.

it is in the nature of the diesel engine, to produce carbon in its tailpipe.
nothing we can do about it.
as long as it does not spew black smoke, we're good.

I think there was a batch of PPV/SUVs here that got DPFs, around the time Euro 4 was being introduced. I got to drive a CASA unit Montero Sport that had it. Gulat kami after driving through SCTEX it was revving by itself and spewing white smoke. We called our contact at Mitsu and they said it was normal daw -- since the car reached the necessary temp and particulate accumulation for DPF burn-off the ECU decided to do it.

Those cars wala masyado usok sa tailpipe, drawback is they need an Italian Tune-Up every once in a while to burn off accumulated carbon in the DPF. Too long without a good highway run and the DPF goes bad from too much contamination.

After a while car manufacturers realized that our emissions testing is barely up to the standards of Euro 2, so they decided to remove the DPFs para one less source of headache. Drawback is the return of soot, smoke and squid ink when idling.

Nung as highway ka, you are burning any soot build up.

Pero during idling for 2 to 3 hours, wala kang in between that period na humahataw makina.

Walang idling consumption din mabibigay to give a 'cost of fuel per hour', but if 2 to 3 hours ka maghihintay na nakaaircon, mas mahal pa yung sa coffee shop talaga.

Just that kung maiwasan, iwas kasi hindi tlaga recommended yung long idling.

Pag ganyan situation, kahit fs ka, i dont think the 10k kms will apply sa oil change, baka need gawin every 5k, kasi yung idling na takbo kinain yung mileage allocation

    But thats me.

sorry sa unioil thread.. pero try mo mag shift sa petron turbo diesel to compare if you will have the same kind of soot..
