January 27th, 2007 04:23 AM #1Italian government approved a bill that will allow supermarkets to sell gasoline(5 liter container). This will avoid cheating(attn. gas dealers).Practical bill for consumers,as gas dealers(most of them),are wise enough to cheat on us!Try this formula in the Philippines.

Hmmm, I can see it now:
Regular gas:
Caltex with Techron - buy one, take one
Diet gas:
Seaoil 93, now with 20% ethanol!
Premium Blend:
Petron Blaze, now 2 Octane higher! Cleans dishes, too!
Shell V-Power, basketball trading cards inside each pack!
Imported gas:
Venezuelan Gold
Brazilian Organic (warning! 85% ethanol! May not run on all engines)

Gasoline in 5 liter containers? A little bit too dangerous for consumers, IMO. Here in the US, some Walmart, Costco and other companies that sell grocery items also have their own pump. This is much safer (containment of gasoline) than buying the fuel in those containers, a potential hazard to consumers.
Plus, may sales tax pa yan, aside from road tax.

Almost half the stuff in the non-food section is either combustible or flammable anyway. hehehe.
Sealed containers could lessen cheating but you can also buy gas from the gas station using your own measured containter if you are really having doubts about their pump.Wedco gasoline cans are selling for around Php300.00 at ACE Hardware.

I think the idea of having a pump at supermarkets is safer than selling 5 liter containers off the shelf. But, for the local setting, I wonder if this supermarkets-gas station tie up will be feasible.
