December 3rd, 2021 11:24 PM #3Most advanced and complex diesel engines found on european makes like BMW, Audi, Mercedes, Porsche, VW etc. Even some American and Japanese diesels most of them being luxury or upscale models also recommends to run premium diesel fuel.

"Nangangailangan" / "required" na premium Diesel ang fuel? Wala.
Any quality Diesel fuel being sold should work on any Diesel engine being run here. There's only the EURO standards to worry about with regards to how much sulfur, et al, your engine can tolerate, among other parameters. ie., if you have a EURO5 vehicle, you should use fuel that is EURO5 or higher. It doesn't matter if it's regular or premium Diesel.
There are notable technical advantages to using premium, but due to diminishing returns, in the long run, the TCO will just shoot up without achieving any appreciable advantage in terms of less maintenance nor does it affect the resale value of the vehicle.
A bottle of Perrier or Wilkins.... either will keep you hydrated. However, one is 7x more expensive than the other.Last edited by oj88; December 4th, 2021 at 11:38 AM.

If not for the cost, there's no denying that premium is better than regular Diesel. As a compromise, you can maybe switch it up every now and then. The premium one will have a better additive package (which is why it's more expensive) that can potentially help clean up clogged injectors and such. It's like pouring in an additive with regular Diesel yourself.
Additives under the right circumstances will work. It's not all snake oil.

December 5th, 2021 01:46 PM #10I am just curious about a comparison between (if an engine doesnt require it)
Euro 4 premium diesel vs euro 5 regular diesel
What can you expect from each given you are running a euro 2 engine?
Just curious because we have no requirement for any premium diesels. I understand some euro diesels need them so its catering mainly for that market.
So, for the added cost of euro 4 premium diesel, is there any actual benefit for a euro 2 engine? Or would it just be better to run euro 5 regular diesel at no extra cost.
