Just imagine if it had the same displacement as some of those Ferrari engines.
Old thread but this info is nice. Just need edit and add these popular platform among enthusiasts here in the west, even in pinas as I heard.

King of 1.6 -SR16VE N1!
Re: variable valve engine comparo
The thing with high-horse, low-displacement engines like the B16 is that they often don't have the torque that's necessary for everyday driving. Not everyone drives above 5000 rpm to work.

Your right that's why some enthusiast do a B20 frankenstein on the B16 or choose the SR20VE over the SR16, especially since the SR20 (NeoVVL or not) is known for their "truck" torque. But then again, that's why some tuners opt to use variable valve controllers which adjusts Vtec or NeoVVL RPM engagement.
Lastly IMO, these cars can "still" be a good daily driver minus low end torque. But yeah they are more marketed towards performance enthusiasts who wouldn't/couldn't buy a an expensive sportscar but likes performance, and still have an everyday reliable/practical everyday ecobox. :)

sayang lang sir kung nasa states lang tayo dami parts for the SR engine available plus daming pede mag tune ng engine, kaso katotohanan nasa kabilang side tayo ng mundo  low budget engine transplant ang SR and gives more power than B16

Agee. hehe. Sa west even Europeans have harnessed the power of Front Wheel Drive SRs, while is Japan Rear Wheel Drive SRs naman ang patok. :) But actually, here in Pinas there are already a lot of tuners that know how to tune SRs, FWD or RWD. Kay Autoplus, Titan, Streetspecs pa lang eh. Only minor problem is some performance parts w/c is not readily available, but they can be ordered naman just like other B16/18 parts or even the 4AGE. Well mas mahirap sa mitsu's mivec engines w/c aftermarket parts are few even in the west. :wonder: Yeah, practical swap ang SR20DE since most of them are early 90s pa! Unlike the younger B series. :D But the NeoVVLs SR20VE and SR16VE ones are more expensive especially the SR16. :)
