September 8th, 2016 02:25 PM #1After loooong months of jotting down what I need vs what I want, I came down to the 2 choice which is the Honda Mobilio 1.5 V CVT and the Toyota Avanza 1.3 E AT/MT. Nag agree din sa akin yun piggy bank ko for the 2 choices. hehehe... coz what I want is Innova or Grandea.. hindi kami nag agree ng piggy bank ko dun sa gusto ko..
Purpose of buying a car:
- Personal Use para sa amin ni bf. (Student permit pa lang meron ko, so mostly sya yun mag drive)
- Grab/Uber ni bf when I'm at work
- Sideline for Chinese tourists mainly pickup/drop off airport, Manila sightseeing, Casino hopping, food tripping.. maybe will throw in some Subic, Tagaytay or Baguio package. Pero hindi po eto madalas, siguro once or twice a month lang.
Kanina from my office to Toyota BGC I was able to hailed a Avanza taxi. Sabi ni kuya driver, 2002 model pa yun Avanza nya. Matipid daw sa gas and matibay naman. Syempre wala naman Honda Mobilion taxi for me to compare, pero parang medyo sold na ako kay Avanza..so sa mga car experts dito, please help me out on the pros and cons.
Questions...
- If I go for Avanza 1.3 for the purpose above, mas okay ba kung Automatic na lang kunin ko? sabi nila mas malakas daw at mas mabilis yun matic kesa sa manual.
- When is the best time to buy? Ber months na ngayon and 3 more months mag 2017 na.
The more freebies the merrier.
Last question.
I saw Toyota and Honda offer TRACKING DEVICE. Sa Toyota yata 50k yun tracking device nila. If someone steal my car (let's hope not), will they know kung saan po nakatago yun tracking device? How does the tracking device work?
Thanks!

1. The Mobilio will offer better comfort and looks good overall. It looks more appealing between your two choices.
2. The Avanza i would expect will have a better suspension durability and will be cheaper to maintain in the long run.
3. Don't rely on the income from renting the vehicle or using the vehicle as Uber, to fully pay the amortization and service needs of the vehicle;
4. Include the cost of insurance and service in your vehicle overhead (get comprehensive insurance, no need for that 50K PHP GPS tracker... unless you want to keep track of your partner, that is).
5. Freebies? Try going to another dealer as well to compare. Usually it's 3M tint, matting, seat covers, maybe fog lamps and new horn and some other accessories. I personally don't care about freebies and would always opt for maximum cash discounts.

September 8th, 2016 03:12 PM #3Kung ako, I'll hold off the purchase for a couple of weeks, ilalabas na kasi ang Honda BRV which looks a lot better than either cars you're considering, baka konti lang ang diprensya sa price

September 8th, 2016 03:58 PM #4^I think the BRV is a higher level of Mobilio and will be same price range as the Fortuner or Innova. Hindi yata ka level ng Avanza. hehehe
1. I like the Mobilio a lot, pero hindi ko need kasi flashy car for now. I'm going back to Honda later and will check kung how does it feel to fit 3 adults at the 3rd row. I need comfort sitting for adults at the back row.
3. I'm getting the car to start a business but Uber/Grab is just for the meantime. mag umpisa pa lang yun tourist business kaya hindi lagi meron turista. Also, I won't be renting my car to local Filipinos. Lugi Negosyo! Reason is marami news na carnapper pala yun nag rent sayo. Purely tourist lang yun kinukuha ko. Either Chinese or Korean kasi yun ang market ko. I'm Chekwa and my parents are from China, kaya dun sa China lang advertise yun business ko..hindi dito. With thousands of tourists coming here, just getting the 0.001% to ride my car is already money making business. hehehehe...
Plus, ako yun tourist guide. I will be introducing the Manila landmarks to them in Mandarin and Cantonese. nag practice na nga ako mga Chinese lines ko sa mga landmarks in Manila. hahaha
4. The GPS tracker is for my peace of mind. It's a Fortuner and 4 months old pa langI don't know what will happen if pwede ma claim ba eto sa insurance or what? if I have a GPS tracker, I can report the stolen car and catch the thief via GPS tracker, maybe it will lessen the headache of doing paperwork with the insurance company.

ung sa gps tracker.. maraming ibang options jan iwas carnapp. like meron ung fuel cutoff, etc.

just surfing olx, gps units' prices range from a few thousands to 19K. but i do not know what qualities these units of differing price, have to offer, when compared to the hideously expensive casa version.. but i suspect, non-casa gps might void some warranties.
what is the cheapest theft-deterrent gadget? the steering wheel lock. or a well-placed, highly visible, dummy blinking pilot light. heh heh.Last edited by dr. d; September 9th, 2016 at 10:05 AM.

You're better off getting the Toyota Innova instead of the Toyota Avanza ...
