Did you test suspension while seated on the second or third row? The driver's seat is not the best place to test a suspension's stiffness. The suspension problem of the Fortuner is not just because it's bumpy, it has less grip on the road. Try driving high speed (100 kph+) on a curved road to see which has the better suspension. My friend had a Fortuner and they almost fell off a cliff with it.

That can be cured by driving slower...
but yeah, typically, the early crashes of Fortuners were people losing grip at the rear end (it skips around too much) and spinning out of control.
On the other hand, early crashes of the new Everest were because of the soft rear suspension... the rear tire digs in and the whole thing flips over.
Which is why I drive a sedan. :hysterical:But when I do drive a truck, I drive within the vehicles limits... like most owners should. It's just that the foibles of the rear suspensions of these trucks are not readily apparent from the front seat, giving the driver a false sense of confidence in their abilities. Note the Pajero that, without warning, flipped over on the Subic Raceway, after completing several laps safely prior to that poi nt.
