March 24th, 2014 05:25 PM #1Hi guys. Im currently using our 8 year old Mitsu Advie as my daily driver. Im logging in around 15k-20k km/year as this is my only car.
Im thinking of buying a second hand for personal use, and will delegate the AUV as a family vehicle.
Im looking for one that is:
1. Budget is around 400k.
2. Running cost is, at most, equal to my AUV. Im getting at least 10km/li with my Adventure. So a P2000 worth of diesel can get me around 500km. Assuming the gasoline price is almost always x1.2 with diesel, Im looking for a car that can deliver at least 12km/liter in the city. Though I know that PMS with diesels is every 5k km,as compared to 10k km for petrol engines.
3. Not an AUV (obviously)
4. Year model not older than 2010 (to minimize the risk of it being a flooded car)
5. May porma/performance-factor din kahit paano. (Im in my early 30s, driving the adventure makes me feel like 40-ish)
TIA.

a) Suzuki Alto... Kaya lang, walang porma or performance factor.
if you are looking for a second hand car, probably a Hyundai Getz would fit your bill.
A second hand vios would also be good.

Kung kaya sa 400k, Ford Focus TDCi. This can do 15 km/L and it's a diesel. It's also no slouch in terms of performance. The 2007-2008 models come in 6MT while 2009-2012 come in 6PS (dual-clutch AT).

March 24th, 2014 07:09 PM #4^The FF TDCI used to be my dream car. I remember, maganda yung review ni Sir Niky and GH dito, especially sa "indestructible" transmission nya (MT). However, medyo wary ako sa maintenance nya. Ano bang usual issues with the Manual TDCI? Kung wear and tear parts, ok lang. Pero kung may issues na maapektuhan yung performance nya (speed, fuel consumption, safety, etc), Id rather stay away from it.

How about 2009-2010 Toyota Vios 1.5G MT or AT sir? Your budget is perfectly suit on this car. Also, it can match your Advie fuel consumption up to 10Km/L on city driving. And best of all, it has widely support from forums like tsikot or other club.

Vios, jazz or city.
Since you dont wanna feel like 40 this time around, why not a slightly older civic fd 1.8? Fc would probably be around what youre getting or slightly better. Looks good din inside and out. I miss the digital speedo so bad. Haha.
Pero in your case, id get a brandnew vios J nalang. At around 630k srp, barya nalang yung monthly mo kung 400k ipangdodown mo. Sure ka pa na walang problema for at least 3 years. Pwede rin mirage/wigo, masmatipid and masmura pero i really prefer the vios over it. Ok yung hatak ng 1.3 MT vios. Pangit nga lang yung steering. Parang laruan when compared to my lancer. Wala kasing weight at all. Pero at least you can park using 1 finger.

March 25th, 2014 08:51 AM #9you could get a 2010 Hyundai Accent (Crdi) for 400K. Siguradong tipid sa crudo. Around 20 Km/L. :D

March 25th, 2014 10:57 AM #10Mukhang pinakasafe na nga na choice ang Vios/City. As for the Hyundai accent, its a good option too.
My officemate has one. Halos same kami ng route, but doble kami ng fuel expenses. And yes, driving the adventure is a practice of patience, hehe. Though, in all our years of ownership, wala itong naging problema.
