June 3rd, 2007 04:23 PM #1Would you go for an S200 with 2.2L w 237hp
or RX8 1.3L rotary engine w 232hp
Both are nice cars But someone has to be better than the other.

i voted for RX8,
ADVANTAGES
>Aesthetics(subjective)
>Weight distribution
>2+2 seating
>high revving(RPM's like sportsbike)
>its engine won some awards
>audio system
DISADVANTAGES
>high maintenace(eats oil)
>fuel consumption(gulp gas as V6 does)
>servicing(who would service rotary engine in the philippines?)
my IF's on RX8
if only RX8's engine is that of Mazdaspeed6. yahoo
if only RX8 is AWD like that of WRX STI. hmmm
if only RX8 is locally distributed. wow

S2000 for me. The RX8 is nice but has had too many problems since it was introduced in the market. As a previous poster said it eats oil among others and some of the other problems has required the owners to get the engine replaced by Mazda under warranty. That's not something I want if I buy a car much more if I buy a sports car.

June 3rd, 2007 10:19 PM #5the S2000 gets my vote.
they are both have high revving engine but overall im leaning over the S2000 since ive heard tons of engine problems on the RX-8, and i heard it drinks oil like a V8 engine.

The only real issue with the RX8 is the oil eating. So far, it's not as problematic as the older RX7 twin turbo engines.
That said... it's a tough choice... both cars are high-revving screamers... both great handlers (although the RX8 is quite soft compared to the S2000), and both add a certain drama to the driving experience.
The RX8 would allow me to share that with my friends (seats four)... but heck... I'm selfish... give me the privacy of the S2000 any day.
