I'd go for the Jazz V. The City may have a big trunk but when you need the extra space, you can fold the rear seats in the Jazz and you now have enormous space for a small hatch to carry a lot of stuff (like a small minivan). The Honda 1.5L engine is good enough for something the size of the City or Jazz but it does lack low end grunt. The older lower trim City and Jazz with the 1.3L engine are those that are really anemic, specially if AT.

The new Vios is another alternative to the City. It looks better than the previous model but some say the heavier weight caused its FC to dip against the previous model.

How about the Lancer EX GLX? It is cheaper than the Altis or Mazda3. They say FC is good for the Lancer EX 1.6L.

Totally forgot about the Vios since the city has been the highlight of our discussion last night.

Plan is to get the car by the end of the year to take advantage of discounts.

They're not sold on the Mitsu Lancer MX also =/ We'll try bringing the stroller when they decide its time for a test drive

Practicality of a Vios, but more pogi points.

5 people with baby. This is on the assumption that you will also carry extra luggages + stroller.

imho, a sedan may not work out. Why not get a second hand innova? This way, the back end can contain your luggages + stroller, and the middle one can seat 3 people comfortably.
the way second hand innovas sell these days are in the vicinity of 550-600k for a 6 year old model.

and yes, second hand fortuners, everests or montero sports would also be good. pasok pa naman yan sa budget mo eh.

    sample prices:

    my two cents lang.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll have to double check with them if their area in Cavite is flood prone. Also, I recommend test drives, but I feel that they might get carried away by a sales agent and the excitement of buying a new car, that's why I'm helping them maximize their budget and help them think on an objective manner heheheh! Baka mamaya maalok ng Honda Civic and that's the one they really like.. not a fan of stretched payments more than 3 years. Too much interest IMO. Sayang pera nila.

As I mentioned, someone has already suggested second hand cars, but the couple is still starting out and are a bit clueless on cars. They'd want to stick with the warranty within the casa as long as it still stays valid. On the other hand, I don't want to get blamed if ever the second hand car they got has had suddenly sprung problems out of nowhere. Di ko rin naman sila matutulungan since they're on Cavite and I am on QC.

ford ecosport, it's high, easy to drive, and cheap although i have no idea about reliability as it is fairly new.

Ang boto ko ay 3rd gen honda jazz

    1.3 engine. Mura registration

After 5 years hindi ka mahihirapan bumili ng parts at hindi mahal.

    "matagal mag-depreciate" works both ways..
    good if you're a-sellin'...
    bad if you're a-buyin'...

    the innova depreciates slowly, too..
but in my opinion, the king of anti-depreciation, is the diesel revo! simply unbelievable... its going price (if the ads are to be believed, and if someone is actually selling) almost approaches that of the newer innova...
