    perhaps maybe the reason why ford decided to upgrade its 2.2 engine is because of its heavy curb weight, and even with the upgraded 2.2 tdci it did not really have a significant effect on the acceleration department of the car especially with the everest.

    The original 2.2 was said to be laggy. The new engine got a small power bump and reduction of lag. But yes, they probably upgraded it to handle the everest's considerable mass.

    Yes, I was validating my purchase but we are also actually looking to replace our other 10 year old SUV. My wife wanted the new Monty, told her to wait until we have test driven the Fortuner before making the decision. I think the new Monty will do just fine.

    Wow very nice links. thanks.

    Results based from the video 0-100 KPH with 4 adult passengers driver included

    1. Montero 2.4 4x2: 10-11 sec
    2. Montero 2.4 4x4: 11-12 sec
    3. Everest 3.2 4x4: 11-12 sec
    4. Everest 2.2 4x2: 12-13 sec
    5. Fortuner 2.4 4x2: 13-14 sec

    The Montero Sport with driver only might easily get 100KPH in less than 10 secs or maybe 8-9secs in 4x2 GLS variant!

    Wonder how the 2.8 Fortuner would perform.

    .
    montero sports
    hp = 181
    torque = 430 Nm
    curb weight = 1935 kg

    very doubtful. the sorento lx 4x2 with 200 hp and 440 Nm torque and curb weight of only 1800 kg has a 0-100kph time of 9.3 seconds. but that is unless the 8-speed tranny of the MS is that good.

    You start counting from the time the speedometer moves. That's the most accurate calculation of the 0-100 kph

    Fort v 4x2 or eve titanium 4x2? Everybody tells me horror stories of ford parts availability. That maybe true for the other ford models but is this still true with everest since the vehicle is marketed specifically for our region? I would assume parts is readily available compared to expeditions and explorers.
