February 20th, 2012 09:55 PM #1Well, it is a pizza Lancer so I suppose the suspension woes known to plague this model is also present in the GSR. I'm not so sure though if the newer ones are affected. The GSR is basically just a Lancer with two doors less. There are no performance advantages over the sedan version expect for, perhaps, a bit less weight. Being a coupe, it is a driver's car. But it is no different from other 1.6L compacts of that generation in terms of fuel efficiency and performance. Though it definitely does look pretty good, especially the facelifted version. But then, it is impractical to get a car having no performance advantages over its sedan counterpart and has a huge chunk of interior space taken away and the inconvenience of having two less doors. I'd suggest you look elsewhere.

April 3rd, 2024 06:16 AM #5^ Hindi ba dahil prior to the 90s maybe 98% of our cars were all manuals and people didn't know that the A/Ts needed maintenance too and just used them forever without doing periodic maintenance like fluid and filter changes?
IIRC another A/T that was considered sirain back then was the Honda Accord, which if you look at the same model in the US the transmission wasn't considered problematic, and they drove way more miles than we did.

April 3rd, 2024 08:46 AM #6I remember that invecsII of mitsubishi. This had a lengthy discussion sa old tsikot boards as well as kotse(dot)com. Nasisira na lang basta kahit regular ATF change. Toyota and Honda has automatics that did not randomly break back then.

the car was released around 1997 (5th Gen Mirage/Lancer)
if you plan to use it in 2024... its almost 30 years old! older that our panganays.
I personally know only 2 people who has a near-perfect condition same Gen Lancers - 1 is a daily driver, while the other is a garage queen (common joke namin na sa loob nun ginawa yung panganay nila)
