Ranking:
1 Toyota Vios E 1.3L CVT 878,000 (Stability control)
2 Hyundai Accent 1.6L Diesel DCT - 930,000 Facelift is coming! (Stability Control)
3 Ford Fiesta Sports+ 1.0 EB 6Spd, 905,000 (Stability Control) Fully loaded
4 Mazda 2 1.5 V+ 6AT 938,000 (Yojin) - Maintenance is free! (Stability Control) Rear View Camera!
5 Honda City E 1.5L CVT 868,000
6 Suzui Ciaz 1.4 GL AT - 845,000
Completely Avoid:
Chevrolet Sail 865,000
The competition is rather good. I thought Honda was a 2nd but on paper Ford Fiesta, Accent, and Mazda-2 is actually competitive versus the mighty Vios.

1. City 1.5- IMHO most well rounded package of excellent performance, quality, parts availability, space, lahat na. Plus the engine is used in 4 different models and deemed good enough to spawn a turbo variant.
2. Vios 1.3- best appliance of the lot but with no excitement whatsoever
3. Accent CRDi- lots of power plus excellent fuel efficiency in diesel! DCT has dubious rep and specs are really, really poor nowadays no thanks to HARI
4. Fiesta 1.0- best performance but most likely poorest resale due to Ford badge, also kinda small for me
5. Mazda 2 1.5- great specs with good performance but like the Fiesta, kinda small
6. Suzuki Ciaz 1.4- lots of space, good looks plus competitive pricing, but doesn't particularly excel in any area...

Sir StockEngine,
Nice Specs and Competitive price pag dating sa sub-compact sedan under 900K..
No more accessories, more on safety features na..
Hopefully, by the 4th quarter of 2018 and Early 2019, yung mga ibang brand na, will follow na sa ganyan features, more on safety features rather than accessories.
BTW:
Still kahit marami nang safety-features, pero marami pa rin ang irresponsible driving at negligence sa maintenance..
all of the specs will be useless...

yes bro. hopefully filipinos will learn more about cars. I mean aside from reliability. two things need to be considered more of: cost of ownership( specific maintenance costs and long term fuel consumption hindi yun 12kml na sinasabi lng) and safety especially stability control.

July 27th, 2018 01:08 AM #7Among these vehicles, I think only the 1.3 Vios and the Accent CRDi have any hope of doing 12km/L in actual MM rush hour traffic. Typical 1.5 gas engines will only do 8-9.
In terms of safety... Perhaps I may represent the old school way of thinking already by today's standards. My basic requirements are actually just functioning seatbelts, well maintained brakes and good and thick tires. ABS is great to have though not really required. Even less so for airbags. A well-engineered crash structure is most important though. Still can't believe how the Explorer spectacularly failed the crash testing in the US.

The City offers the best package by having decent size, good engine performance, and acceptable fuel efficiency.
The Vios 1.3E is just too pricey for what it offers but it does carry the T brand name. Some even say the 1.5L model is more fuel efficient than the 1.3L model.
The Fiesta and Mazda both have cramped interiors but these two offer good driving dynamics and performance. If opting for the Fiesta, the hatchback Ecoboost is something to consider if you like a responsive daily driver.
The Accent CRDi offers frugality thru its turbo Diesel engine. The engine has good performance numbers but the chassis is quite heavy for a small car. Sarsi owns an Accent CRDi and the listed gross vehicle weight is 1650 kg, more like the older midsize cars already. This also means its LTO registration cost is similar to an Accord or Camry or the bigger TOTL compacts.
