The D-Max is likely a fluke. 20+ is indeed possible with the 3.0... have done it on the Alterra... but 38 sounds like a filling error.

Some of the variability can be down to unit condition, tires and even driver differences.
Civic and Elantra, remains to be seen, but if you have the right gearing, I think 20+ can be done in these two. Not sure about 27...

I think its not a fluke. Isuzu is king lol. Galing talaga tong mga eco run.
Brio 1.3ats cant beat its 1.5L jazz/mobilio siblings. Interesting.
HondaPH should bring in the brio 1.2 with cvts those can compete with the celerios.
I wish toyota brought the new vios to this eco run. It would have obliterated the competition

That's what happens when you let manufacturers select their own drivers. All the sneaky tricks you can get away with during the filling and run really do work.
Heck, I think a substitute for rocking while filling could be to fill up the car as far beyond the full mark as possible before the "official" fill, hit a whole lot of bumps and ruts to shake up the fuel in the tank on the way to the filling station, and take your initial hit of gas.

In this case, the DOE should INSIST that all cars come to the official filling point with tanks with half a load of fuel or less.
RE: Brio, not surprised. The CVT on the Jazz/City is fantastic, allowing ultra-low cruising rpm.

Bro do you honestly believe that a slightly lighter body (with poorer aerodynamics) and a manual transmission would improve fuel consumption by almost 100%?
300 km * 38 km/L means they only filled up 7.89L. Like I said, fillups this small are very, very prone to error. Most likely their tank was initially filled above the automatic cutoff, or their second full tank did not reach (or prematurely, erroneously reached) the automatic cutoff, or both.
I did 27 km/L with my Vios 1.3 once, but when I reran the test on a longer route it was only 21.26 km/L.
Full to Full*– To make the most out of the trip, all 70 vehicles had their fuel tanks filled up to the neck. The fuel cap was then placed with a safety seal to make sure the fuel level was not tampered with. Other sections of the car like the hood and trunk also had safety seals, ensuring that the engine, fuel tank and load capacity cannot be fiddled with. After finishing the 300 km fuel economy run, all of the cars had to top up again while the marshalls check each vehicle's fuel consumption.
