You don't know what the condition of the RS will be, since it's secondhand. I suggest going for one that's completely stock and with low mileage and no abuse... but only get it if you're buying it for the fun of driving it.

The Civic VTEC is more economical (smaller engine), has a better gearshift and clutch and has more space.

The Lynx RS is more powerful, handles better and has more toys (sunroof, 12CD changer). The steering is exceptional... comparable to the non-electric steering BMWs, actually. It's also more "pogi". It's definitely more fun on the highway, and you can hit 210 km/h quite easily given enough space. Fuel economy in long distance driving is pretty good, too. In city traffic, the extra torque will be fun, but the clutch and gearshift aren't as refined as the Civic (the clutch can be a pain in the butt, sometimes) and fuel economy is so-so (stock cars get 6-8 km/l in traffic... my highly modified car does... 5... )

Maintenance costs are mixed. Most parts are no more expensive than for the 1.6 liter Lynx, but some parts are RS specific. If you live in Manila, there are a bunch of shops in Banawe that carry parts for good prices. If you don't... like me... then you need to travel to Manila to find them. But then, this is true of any newer car, the Lynx, the Corolla Altis, or the 2001 and up Civics. One last thing... being a 2.0, the RS is classified as a "luxury" car come registration time... which sucks. :hysterical:

It's a nice car, but it has its quirks. Only buy if you're sure you can put up with them.
Well said advice....I especially like the last statement.
