I prefer automatic dahil mostly city driving (commonwealth - ayala). I have 300-400k budget (the lower, the better). I'm looking into fuel consumption/space/looks/maintenance cost.

Nagbasa nako sa forums and still torn parin ako sa city and jazz. Gusto ko kasi sa jazz is yung FC and yung magic seats (we'll never know when we need a spacious rear space) pero naliliitan ako sa size niya. May nabasa rin akong issue sa mga CVT hondas so nagdadalawang isip na rin ako kung yan ang mga bibilhin ko.
    Need some tips guys. Thanks
The Jazz and City are practically the same vehicle. It has the same platform, engine, and tranny. Their only difference is their configuration - the City is a sedan while the Jazz is a hatchback. If they are 2009 models, this means they have the 5-speed AT and not the 7-speed CVT of the 2003-2008 models.

If you ask me, I’d take a Civic FD over a City/Jazz 2009. It’s a better car overall despite a small difference in fuel consumption. The Civic is bigger, quicker/faster, and better to drive.

A Santa Fe CRDi will be practical in terms of fuel expense as it uses diesel but normally diesel vehicles are more expensive to maintain.

By mentioning the 7-speed CVT of the older 03-08 models, meaning po ba hindi sirain yung 5-speed CVT tulad nung older series? Napansin ko kasi medyo mataas talaga consumption ng civic fd compared sa city and ayala-qc po work ko and daily car ko sana ito. Sa santa fe naman, mas mahal ng konti pero parang future proof rin kasi 7-seater yung nakita ko, wala ako masyadong makitang thread about old santa fe kaya di ko matignan yung quality niya. Less than 80k mileage kasi yung nakita kong santa fe na 2008. Being my 1st car, gusto ko mas reliable siya and mas matipid

Habang bago ok daw pero parts and maintenance pero baka sumakit ulo ko in the long run since konti lang makukuhaan except if it's in VW service center which is sobrang mahal..

The Civic is a class higher than the Santana. The Lavida is VW’s competitor to the Civic.

Actually, it made me think na since ang production is in China, sourcing of parts became easier so "probably" mas madali and cheaper na to maintain.. Well, that's me who thinks hypothetically hehe..

Honestly, I know nothing much about cars. Nagtatanong lang din ako sa guy friends and I googled this forum to know more about cars. This would be my first time to buy a car which I have the liberty to choose. The last time was budget- constrained and impulsive ako so ended up buying an E36 '97, sumakit ulo ko kakahanap pyesa at first kasi wala ako alam sa kotse, lalo na sa european cars.. Anyway, found BMW e36 group kaya nakahanap din ng gagawa. Pero ngayon, I opted sana Jap car pero nakita ko nga ang Santana. But then again, discouraged agad. #pasensyanababaepoakonagbabagoisip lol.

well, the japanese brands should offer easier and cheaper maintenance, as the parts have to swim a much shorter distance, or none at all.
among the local japanese brands, toyota argueably leads, in real and perceived quality and after-sales service, in-casa and outside.

Hmmm. Madam go for the altis then, the highest possible year model na kaya ng budget. Not being s-e-xist here, but I would advise the same should I have a sister asking the same query.

Pahabol, same brand pala advice ni doc haha

Hi guys, I would like to ask for the car gurus advice here regarding our first 2nd hand car purchase.
    I'm thorn between these cars:

    1. 2008 up Toyota Altis 1.6 bec. it has bigger/wider body
    2. 2007 up Honda FD for the "angas" looks
    3. 2009 up Honda City 1.5 for FC
    4. 2009 up Toyota Vios 1.5 for FC
    5. 2009 up Hyundai Tucson (Diesel Variant) for a higher ground clearance

    My considerations are:
    1. Availability of parts
    2. Riding Comfort
    3. Fuel Efficiency
    4. Low Maintenance

I still have a month to decide on which vehicle to purchase. By the way, our max budget is 350K and the car will be based & used in Batangas. I have 2 teenage kids na so yung car space is important din for me. Manila ang work ko and during weekends lang naming gagamitin doon (Batangas).

Hoping for your inputs since it's my first 4-wheel purchase.

Thank you in advance. More power to the Forum!

Tucson syempre, not just for the higher ground clearance but also lower fuel cost. Considering the P12/L difference between diesel and unleaded, the Tucson may just yield fuel cost similar to 1.3s. However, I doubt you can find a 2009 unit for 350k... Unless you are looking at the 1st gen?

Among the sedans, the Vios 1.5 and Altis 1.6 would have similar FC. That crosses out the Vios unless its a 1.3. There is a bigger difference in FC between the City and Civic. So depends on your priorities now. Have not driven an FD yet, but the 1.5 City is no slouch, of that I am certain, and also quite spacious for a subcompact.

Hello po. Newbie here. I plan to buy a second hand Fortuner. Anong car exchange (buy and sell stores?) po ba ang mapagkakatiwalaan? I'm from Marikina.
