It depends really on your needs. If you really need a ride with 7 seats, go with the Explorer 2.0L Ecoboost. It is bigger and more comfortable than the Forester. However, expect higher fuel expense with such a big vehicle.
If you just need a comfortable 5-seater with a big trunk, the Forester 2.0i-P will meet all your needs. It is more nimble than the Explorer and it has a higher ground clearance plus it comes standard with AWD. Fuel expense will be more acceptable.

May be you need to tell us why you need any of them.
I have 2.0L Explorer and the Forester XT. If I go long drive kahit mag-isa lang ako, I prefer the Explorer. Kapag paikot-ikot lang, mas madaling dalahin ang Forester.
The XT has almost the same fuel consumption as the 2.0L Expl. The iP should be a bit better. Medyo bitin ang space sa Forester kung pangpamilya.

If you have a family size of 4 or 5, then the Forester will be fine. Now, if you need to carry more people, then go with the Explorer.
