Hello everyone, helping a friend decide on which car.
What would be the best value for money in the 2nd hand market for 400k max budget.

    Priorities would be
    1. Maintenance
    2. Performance
    3. Comfort
    4. Fuel Consumption

    His top picks
    1. Elantra GLS
    2. Civic FD
    3. Mazda 3
    4. Ford Focus
    5. Ford Fiesta
    6. Jazz

Feel free to add other options as he is still open to other cars.

    Toyota Camry.

There are some decent examples out there for that amount of money.

^^^ If Camry is a suggestion, then consider also the Accord or Mazda6. They are better for folks who drive their own cars.

Midsize cars tend to consume more fuel than the usual compact or subcompact mainly for the reason they have bigger engines. A midsize with a 4-banger NA engine (between 2.0L to 2.5L) would do around 6-7 km/L on city driving routes, similar to most CUVs with the same engine size. Midsize cars are much more durable though as they are designed better to deal with its bigger platform.

In terms of maintenance? Does midsize cost the same as the compact/subcompact of the same price range?

parang yung nasa isip nya is Elantra>Civic>Jazz.
Halos sold na siya sa elantra kung hindi lng dahil sa reliability.

    I'd gladly drive a (my) Camry .. (if I had one) ...

    BTT:

Owning a bigger car, is like "more" car for your money's worth.

Better interior materials, better safety features, etc.

Re: Hyundai, yeah medyo over-acting ang brand na yan when it comes to aftersales parts and service.

Mejo mahal hyundai. Every 5000kms ang PMS. Ako kasi sa casa lang talaga ko nagpapaPMS, if he'll do the same baka mapamahal sya. Mas mahal kapag 10k pms lalo na 20k pms and 40k pms kasi mas marami pinapalitan. I remember, sa 80k pms ko, inabot ako P21k. And that is just for an Accent 1.4L(manual).. Also im always using fully synthetic for my engine oil.

Mahal din parts, nung nireplace ung aircon pulley ata yun, they charged me 12k for the item alone.. Wala pa labor.. So "$$$kaching$$$" nanaman yun for hyundai! Haha!
