CR-V for its space and size, it's one of the roomiest in its class. Plus the economy is pretty good.

Rav4 is pretty good too, but I'm not entirely sure on the fuel consumption and it looks quite boring.

Tucson/Sportage twins are pretty cramped in my opinion so unless you really like the looks, I wouldn't put this on top of the list.

X-trail is nice and boxy, but looks are hit or miss for some. The CVT is good from what I hear. Parts might be scarce since only a few were sold so I wouldn't really recommend.

The Fortuner 2.7 is within your price range so might want to look into that as well, fuel consumption isn't far from these CUVs, plus you get additional ground clearance, 7 seats and reliability.
