Ok na yan. You don't need a dedicated sub output. Most amplifiers will have a built in crossover naman or you can get your own.
My HU only has a pair of pre-outs. So I just used a splitter when I got to the amp. Tapos adjust ko yung dalawang crossover sa amp.

Tnx luckytruck and OTEP. Actually meron na akong sub. Currently naka-connect sa front pre-out.
Right now naka todo fade to front (F15) ang HU because the rear fill is too much if I leave it at level 0.
So if I get separates powered by an amp, do I connect the amp to front pre-out and the sub amp in the rear pre-out?
Or should I use just the front pre-outs? I.e: HU->front-preout->amp1->amp pre-out->amp2

i would use the front rca out for the separates and the rear for the sub.
then you can match them using the gains of the amps and the fader. more flexibility. your signal will aslo travel through less equipment, meaning less loss in signal clarity

tanong ko lang maganda ba separates ng pheonix gold?
-
i know in the old days (5 to 8 years ago), their amps and subs were really good. i have not heard about them recently, but i am sure more people will chime in with their experience with those separates.

Puwede na ba ang 50W RMS na separates? Kotse lang naman. I'm thinking of DLS-PS5, 5.25" ang mids, and powering it with a 50W x 2 amp. This way hindi na siguro kailangang sirain ang door panel and I can use the existing holes without worrying about the windows hitting the magnet.

it really depends how loud you want to play your music and at what frequency you cut it off.
when i built my F150 before, i wanted it very Loud and Clear.
I used 5.25 inch separates to cover the frequncies from 200 hz and above at very high volumes. no distortion whatsoever. in order to fill the midbass gap, i had 6.5 inch woofer playing the 70 to 200 hz range.
for in-car listening from 70 hz and above, 5.25 inch separates will be fine. it would be better if you had a sub to play the frequencies from 70hz and below.

Thanks! I have the sub at the trunk. Di naman masyado malakas ako mag sounds. Basta maganda lang sa loob ng car, not for people outside. :)
One other thing, my amp filter adjustment has a knob but it doesn't have exact stops. If I want to cut it off to say 150Hz, do I have to test and adjust this by ear?

kung 50w RMS yung requirement ng DLS, baka mabitin ka sa 4x50w na amp kasi yung rating na yun ay peak power na.
-
first, disconnect your subwoofer
then turn up the crossover for your separates to well over the 200 hz mark
lower the gains on your amp to about 1/4 setting
then play a CD of the type of music that you listen to that has the most bass
turn up the volume to the maximum that you listen. if you run out f volume on the head unit and it is not loud enough, slowly raise your gain on the amp.
when the volume is at the maximum that you think you will ever need then you proceed
lower the crossover frequency of you separates very slowly. you should hear more and more bass sound from your midrange/woofer. when your vocals start to distort because of the increasing bass being palyed, then you have reached the lower frequency limit of your 5.25 inch woofers. raise the crossover frequency to get rid of the distortion.
this is how i do it. it is just my opinion, but it works for me :) disclamer lang yan kasi i don't want to be responsible kung mabasag ang speakers if something goes wrong. but if you follow the above properly, never mababasag ang speakers mo.
