June 1st, 2010 05:22 PM #1Good day!
Just want to ask a few questions since wala talaga ako alam sa field na 'to.
1. What's a good and budget-wise car shampoo?
I've been seeing a lot of good comments about Microtex.
2. And a good car wax?
3. How do you properly apply wax on the car?
I've read that it should be applied and then removed after. Can anyone guide me on this process of applying wax? I know I have TurtleWax somewhere in the garage, is that good?
4. What cloths do you guys recommend when washing and drying the car? And should there be a separate cloth for applying and removing wax?
I don't really have that time to do a complicated detailing process so I guess I'll stick to the simpler methods instead of the evilish' ones that I've been reading here.
Thanks a lot!
PS it'll be raining a lot in the next few months, so what are some things that should be done?

Rainy days is coming its better to wash and wax your car to protect the paint from acid rain specially if you have no cover garage and your car is expose to sun and rain. I use 3M brand of microfiber cloth for waxing my car .

1. Microtex, yes, because it's only P150/liter. And it's very foamy at madulas.
2. Depends. What are you specifically looking for? Durability? Beading? Gloss? etc.? Sobrang daming OTC waxes out there like Mothers and Meguiars that are very user-friendly, not sure about wallet-friendly, depends on you hehe.
3. Again, depends. Some OTC waxes require you to apply per panel only then buff off, because if you apply wax on the whole car then buff, it will be a PITA to remove.
While some OTC waxes like your TW Hard shell wax can be applied to the whole car and buff off easily. BTW, be careful in using your TW wax (is your wax the TW hard shell?) because it contains some mild polishes (TW Hard shell).
4.
When washing = Wash Mitt
When drying = Drying towel or Good-quality Chamois
When applying wax = Applicator pad (Example brands are SM Arnolds, Micromagic, Meguiars)
When Buffing off wax = Plush Microfiber Towel (Example is the Microtex Plush/Ultra Plush)
Hehe. Come to think of it, what we do is really simple, not evilish. It's just proper maintenance of the paint.
Rainy season? Weekly detailing will do. Or get a Collinite 476 or Collinite 915
Actually if you read the Detailing thread you will really learn A LOT. And you will be inspired to take more care of your car. Almost a year lang nung nagsimula akong magpost at magtanong-tanong sa detailing thread, and here I am now, very conscious of our cars' paint condition and inspired to take good care of it.Last edited by Chikselog; June 1st, 2010 at 07:23 PM.

BTW, yung Collinite, specifically the 476S, is the most durable wax out there. 915 has almost the same durability as the 476S and makintab siya compared sa 476S. Pero mahal, P1400 isang lata ng 476S, P2400 naman isang lata ng 915.
I think I'm gonna need a little bit more enlightenment regarding this. How do you remove the wax? I mean, ilalagay siya sa surface ng car, then polish, then what? Or remove means to buff/polish?
2. Wait for it to dry to a haze (for most OTC waxes)
3. Then buff off (remove).
No prob sir. Keep the questions coming

June 2nd, 2010 10:15 AM #6Sounds interesting.. mukhang fool-proof. Hehe. Might actually just settle for this for the mean time. Does this include the waxing?

3. Polish?
Am I on the different page here?
Thanks again sir

Polishing is different from buffing. I just can't find the right words to explain. Parang malapit lang ang definition nila kasi. Anyway, polishing kasi, well, includes a polish for example a Meguiars SwirlX. Polishing is removing light to medium paint defects.
Yung buffing paano ba, hehe di ko maexplain. Basta what I meant by buffing is removing the applied wax on the car.
Siyempre po iniispread yung wax. Apply some on your applicator pad and then spread it using a round, overlapping motion.
Yung Mothers 3 step system tatlong product siya.

June 2nd, 2010 11:14 AM #8Haha pardon me for my stupidity man lol. :P
I found this vid:

Is that what you're trying to say? He applied the wax first, spread it over the surface with minimal force. I guess this where we should wait for a while to let it dry, right? And finally, remove it with a microfiber cloth?
