Buffing is a general term used in the Philippines pag gagamitan ng makina yung paint, pang apply ng wax ng polish etc.
To be more specific, yung polishing term na gamit ng detailer pertains to gloss enhancement and removing of paint imperfections/ paint defects, like swirls, mild scratches, paint oxidation etc with the use a synergistic combination of machine, pad and polishing cream (not wax).

July 31st, 2016 10:13 AM #2263Few days ago I have a part of a car body panel repainted. Kailangan pa raw i-buffing. Need ko pa raw ibalik, after the painted panel dried good, kasi nag-uulan. Yung painted panel, hindi smooth to see and touch. Naisip ko po, kung pwede magawa ko sa pagpunas ng wax na nabibili sa mga Ace Hardware.

July 31st, 2016 10:25 AM #2264the buffing comes as part of the re-painting, po. let them do it, sir. you are paying for it. they use rubbing compound, not wax. and it's physically much more difficult than just waxing. puede kung puede na kayo ang gagawa, but...
lala-ke ang braso mo, kung kayo ang gagawa. and you'll probably get to feel like the hulk (he's always angry), somewhere along the way. 'tis better left to power tools and knowledgeable people.
good luck, po.

dr. d is right, unless you want to be the hulk, pwede mo subukan. Yung wax po sir will protect your paint and will not do anything to make the paint smooth. Usually nag sasanding pa sila before they polish the paint. Pag direct polish/ buffing it will take more time and effort to get their desire results.

July 31st, 2016 01:13 PM #2267Buffing refers to the whole process. Polishing is part of buffing.
The three stages of buffing: 1. Heavy cut to remove scratches. 2. Final cut and initial polish. 3. Final polish.
Each stage uses different products. Cutting uses heavy and medium rubbing compound. Polishing uses cleaner polish and finishing polish.
After buffing is complete, the paint should be shiny/reflective even without wax.
Wax or sealant is applied afterwards for protection.

Tanong ko na rin po. Bakit kapag repainted na auto like wash over, etc. kelangan ibalik sa paint shop for buffing? Babawasan agad clearcoat para maging smooth? I mean bakit di kagaya ng factory paint na hindi dumaan sa buffing before irelease sa factory. Pero smooth and shiny agad paint from factory kahit may orange peel effect. Different process? Environment? Thanks po sa sasagot.

August 2nd, 2016 12:03 PM #2270Factory uses clean room and robots. Paint formula, spray pressure, and speed are also controlled. Factory workers do buffing afterwards pero light or finishing na lang.
Watch the paint process of factory here:
