Honestly don't know. Nissan changed compressors in the Sentra sometime in the past, too.

A friend, on the other hand, had to chenage the compressor on their old Frontier.

I guess it's in the way you use them. Our Exalta never had compressor problems, whereas I had to sell my extra compressor (engine swap project) to a friend with the same car (same age...about 2-3 years).

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Don't if this is true pero halos lahat ng nakakausap kong car A/C mechanics eto ang tip. Huwag daw laging nasa Max ang A/C temperature settings. Any technical explanation about this one?

totally agree ako sa yo sir frank, for me anything pwersado mas maikli ang
buhay. if cost of repair means nothing tuloy lang pero kung tipid mode at maalaga
IMO the best ang moderate lang ang settings. not max.

not that technical pero max settings means more work on the compressor, more stress on the parts and shorthens its life

really? hmmm... well on my starex it doesnt matter if you have it on max or not... the compressor will still cycle on and off the same way,, because of the design off the system,, because when you think your adjusting your termostat its just the valves of the heater system that opens and heats the air...so unless you turn the compressor off manually there is basicallly no difference..... by the way my starex 01 model still has stock aircon system... havent cleaned or anything done to it...and its still working fine.. and the reason its ok is probably because the starex has 3 auxiliary fans to help cool the condenser.

If you just replace the oil of an R12 compressor with R134a oil without changing the shaft seal, eventually the refrigerant will leak out. Though it will take years I think for it to completely dry out.

As for taking care of your compressor, just make sure that you don't just refill the refrigerant. If you need to refill the refrigerant, there is leak. Make sure you resolve the source instead of just regularly refilling it. Also, have the clutch bearing replaced once you start hearing noise. If you don't, the hub might get damaged. Hirap pa naman to find a replacement hub for some compressors. Sometimes you have no choice but to change the whole thing.

If i may ask, ano yung HUB sa compressor? Is it possible that it's the reason of ethnic sound in the compressor?

    Thanks
