Hi guys... i'm just a newbie here. Kuha lang ako ng advice sa inyo about my aircon problem. It seems that hindi gumagana ang compressor pag medyo malamig ang weather (lalo na kung kauulan lang). When you start the engine and turn the aircon on, blower lang ang gumagana. Then after maybe 10 to 15mins mag-e-engage na ang compressor. Normal naman sya last summer. Lately lang nagkaganito. Btw, ok s'ya kung normal naman ang temp outside the car. I mean pagbukas mo ng aircon, gagana agad ang compressor. Freon check--ok naman daw sabi ng mechanic. I check all the fuses and relays--ok din naman. Ang hirap i-troubleshoot kasi intermittent nga s'ya... pasensya na medyo mahaba ang istorya ko... Toyota gli '94 nga pala ride ko... Many thanks in advance...

If you press the A/C button and the lights wont illuminate its indication that the compressor wont engage for whatever reason. It could be low on refrigerant, have it check in a good A/C shop and ask a A/C technician not a mechanic.

i've got a hunch it's the thermostat that's acting up, have it checked.

    thanks guys...

to v6dreamer : Sir, sorry.. I meant a/c technician not mechanic. He said refrigerant level is ok (although I don't get the exact reading) ...

to moe : I bypassed the thermostat by shorting the two terminal, still the compressor doesn't work...

Is it possible that the a/c amplifier is causing the problem?

Hey, we got same problem (and same car too) but i don't know if we have the same simple solution. Mine was solved by spraying electrical / electronic grade contact cleaner to the terminal to where the relay of the compresor is inserted. (beside the battery - the smaller black box) My mechanic had tried checking all components of my A/C but all are working fine except that no 12V power is supplied to the compressor. When the cleaning of the terminals was done, its all ok.

Saved some bucks if my a/c is not completly diagnosed! Its been almost a year now and still doin fine.

i agree that the thermostat could be the culprit.

i think bro kulang lang sa freon yung car mo. pag malamig ang weather at malamig din ang condenser, nag lo-low pressure yung freon try mo padag-dagan. palagyan mo ng gauge yung high side and low side. no problem sa low side kahit 45psi na, yung high side 200-250 psi (compressor running).
