Have the condenser cleaned as well. Happened to my 2010 city last year.
Fan was working, replace cabin filter every year or when its dirty.
Noticed that the A/C struggles to cool the cabin when on a standstill sunny day, but becomes ok when the car is moving.
Brought the car to my trusted Car a/c specialist, his diagnosis was the condenser is blocked. They still dismantled the evaporator to verify and just as i thought it was still clean after 8 years. Goes to show that we must regularly change the cabin filter.
They also dismantled the condenser which already turned black due to years of going thru dirt and dust on our roads, Flushed to old freon and compressor oil and of course replaced with new ones. Also cleaned my radiator while their at it.
From that day up to now A/C is still cold. I rarely need to set the thermostat to more than half. Always have it on half. If i go more than half it gets very cold.

April 8th, 2019 12:01 PM #18Most likely the cause of the problem would be a faulty cooling fan. Its purpose is to keep the radiator and condenser for the air-conditioner to cool during when in idle. If it's not functioning properly, this will cause the radiator and condenser to get very hot. I recommend that you should visit your trusted car shop to have it repaired to avoid worsening as this could lead to car overheating. Hope this helps!

Adding an extra fan wont really solve the problem. Plus its added load to your alternator.
Most of the cars sold here are designed for our tropical climate.
